Everything in Igboland is different from what you see in other parts of the country. If I may ask, is this our animalistic behavior makes us better than anybody else's in other places outside the Igboland? One time I was going through the road I felt was on the normal way that I should be in. However one of the road traffic workers in Nnewi asked me to go straight, and when I obeyed his commands and keeps straight his colleagues flagged me down and he walked away. I was taken to their office for running a Oneway, and they asked me to pay N20,000. But I refused. Meanwhile, I was going for a burial ceremony in Owerri and I had a live Goat in the back of my car. They delayed me for about 5 hours, and this goat was crazy and crying like madness. I decided I should charter a car to continue my journey instead, but one of those workers was telling a woman to my hearing, he said that if I leaves my SUV here and go with the goat on another transportation, that they're going to drove my car by the road corner and burn it to ashes. He said he knew that I had the money but that I'm a stupid person. He actually talks so that I could hear him. Finally, the lady came to me asked me not to leave my car there for any reason. She said that she believes that I don't leave in Nigeria, and told her that I stays in USA. She said no wonder, and she asked me to give her N15,000 for the people. I gave her the money and in less than 5 minutes, she came back with my car keys and my papers. And I gave her another N10,000 for herself and her baby, she never asked for anything, anyway, before I gave her the money. She was shocked. Why didn't I want to give them the money or offered them anything at all, she said? She said that they told her that I didn't want to cooperate with them rather I told them to give me a citation, so that I can go to court on Monday, and they refused and that was the truth. I actually told them so. I was hurt. Because this was stealing by tricks. I told the lady that it wasn't my intention to take that route but one of them had asked me to go straight and I pulled out from the road that I've already entered and go straight according what his directions. The lady advised me not to be stubborn or rude to these kind of people, that they can do anything whatsoever to me, that they're not normal people, she warned me seriously. By time I got to Owerri it was already after Six O'clock P.M, and went to the burial ceremony, and after I had stayed in a hotel at Owerri, instead coming back to Enugu as my originally scheduled. This is my own experience in Nnewi sometime ago.
